Setting up the 14-651 is a breeze thanks to features such as the easy-access 3/8-inch-capacity drill chuck and adjustable rack-and-pinion fence. A height attachment increases the mortiser's capacity by 1-3/4 inch, and if you still need more height, you can simply turn the 14-651's head 180 degrees to mortise off-table.

It was easier to setup my drill press and use than using this machine. The handle to pull the drill bit into the material is hard to pull. The drill bits are poor quality and difficult to install and use. The machine came all greasy and was difficult to wipedown. Not a very well made machine.2.

For the price the product is great. It was very easy to assemble and by reading a few short articles on the Internet about making mortise and tenon joints, I was able to make a small table for our deck with perfect joints the first time out.The chisels seem to be of very good quality and I think they will hold up well for a few years.This is not the machine for the professional cabinetmaker, but for the home shop guys and gals this perfect in the perfect price range.

I called Delta and was told that they no longer make that replacement part. It broke whilewithdrawing the chisel from a hole. Caveat Emptor. The fence on my Delta mortise machine broke after abouttwo years of use. Yes, the *fence* broke. So, my broken fence will cost me about $300, but Delta won't be getting it.

Last month I was drilling holes and the coupler broke. I'll be out of operation for 5 months. My only option is to buy another machine, (not Delta) wait for the part then sell the Delta. Now I understand The part is on back order until October.

At least they had the part. There mortising machine is the same as Deltas. I got it from Grizzly. How in the hell would he know. Ok, I've used it for a few years with no problems. Ok, just order a part. Doesn't that seem unreasonable to you.

Same maker, cheaper parts. My local tool dealer told me how great this Mortising Machine was. Cheep cast iron. By the way, I did get a coupler, but not from Delta.

I have to compliment Amazon for working this out and being very responsive. I finally got an undamaged mortiser yesterday and after the short assemby and a single test it does perform as expected.The actual mortiser is very well made and is easy to use. The package was not damaged. The problem was not with the shipper. I had to return two damaged machines to finally get a good one. I rated it 2 stars because of the quality contorl from the factory. After the second unit that had a cracked casted yoke assembly, Amazon removed thwe item from their site and had the vendor investigate the problem. It had to packed up already damaged.
